COUNTRY LIFE MAGAZINE – November 2012 People & Places Article by Petra Vandecasteele
“FOLLOW ME!”, Justin Lawson called as he hopped into his bakkie to lead the way to one of Montagu’s much loved climbing sites. Montagu offers outstanding climbing with over 450 climbing routes for all levels of experience. There are many routes in the area, but we went climbing near the Old English Fort just outside the village. There is no central place of entry and access is free of charge. You just choose your rock and route and go. Rock climbing gives you a feeling of total freedom and an exhilarating sense of achievement when you reach the top of your chosen climb. I found climbing with Justin totally stress-free and, best of all, I didn’t have to organise a thing.
